I've been part of the Erie music scene since the mid-'60s. I picked up a guitar, taught myself some chords — then leads — and was lucky enough to get a band together. We played around Erie until the early '80s.
That's when the DJ thing was starting to happen here, and I saw an opportunity to bring a special kind of entertainment to Erie. I still love the live music scene — my wife and I go out and listen whenever the opportunity presents itself. There's a terrific amount of talent in the Erie area, and plenty of it isn't in a band. Bring on the karaoke!
I already had a great sound system and the experience to run it, so I made the initial — and ongoing — investment in a karaoke library. I pride myself on providing a quality system and a quality show that lets singers enjoy a "live" atmosphere while belting it out. What's the point of a singer being drowned out by the music? LET THEM BE HEARD!
The long-term engagements tell the story best: ten-plus years at the Stadium Lounge and Rack N Roll, just to name a few — and nine-plus years and counting at the Fulton Athletic Club and American Legion Post 571, both bi-weekly.
As long as the singers are still coming… I LOVE MY JOB!
